The world-renowned Frost Music School at the University of Miami selected Akustiks to oversee the acoustical design of a new performance and teaching facility with the centerpiece of the project being a new 200-seat recital hall that is envisioned to feature a digital organ. The hall features expansive use of glass and rich wood finishes that have been sculpted to create an “ocean” of sound for soloists and small ensembles. The project also includes a new rehearsal hall featuring the latest in audio and video technology to not only support an orchestra of approximately 80 musicians in rehearsal, but also supports creative presentations by students and faculty and other special events.
