This new Performing Arts Center which opened in Bogotá in May 2010, hosts full symphony orchestra concerts, opera and zarzuela, theater, ballet, musicals and popular music events. The main 1,332-seat theater presents, among other local and international groups, the two leading orchestras in Colombia: The National Symphony and the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra. Our work included room design, comprehensive acoustic design and construction administration services along with basic design and commissioning of the audio video systems for the main room. In addition to the main theater, the Center includes a 500-seat studio theater, a library and administration offices. The building, including the two theaters, makes use of natural light and uses state-of-the-art natural ventilation systems to quietly provide comfortable conditions, without requiring air conditioning, making it substantially more environmentally friendly.
