This new Performing Arts Center which opened in Bogotá in May 2010, hosts full symphony orchestra concerts, opera and zarzuela, theater, ballet, musicals and popular music events. The main 1,332-seat theater presents, among other local and international groups, the two leading orchestras in Colombia: The National Symphony and the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra. Our work included room design, comprehensive acoustic design and construction administration services along with basic design and commissioning of A/V systems for the main room. In addition to the main theater, the Center includes a 500-seat studio theater, a library and administration offices. The building, including the two theaters, makes use of natural light and uses state-of-the-art natural ventilation systems to quietly provide comfortable conditions, without requiring air conditioning, making it substantially more environmentally friendly.
