Akustiks’ Brazilian affiliate office, Acustica e Sonica, was invited by Fabio Mechetti, Music Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Minas Gerais, to lead the design of a new 1,500-seat hybrid concert hall to be the home of the orchestra. The Maestro’s desire was to employ a vineyard style of seating around the orchestra platform, yet maintain the warmth and resonance of a classic shoebox concert hall, a new approach resulted. Akustiks collaborated with Acustica e Sonica on this project, providing consulting in the areas of room acoustic design, seating configuration, orchestra platform design, backstage facilities, as well as organ accommodation and coordination.
