Akustiks oversaw the acoustical design of the adaptive reuse of Belmont Heights Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee resulting in an 857-seat concert hall to support Belmont University’s School of Music program. A key aspect of the transformation was to couple the building’s attic to the audience chamber through a new sound transparent ceiling, and along with increasing the floor rake, the acoustical volume was increased roughly 1.5 times the original sanctuary yielding an ideal reverberation time for orchestral music.
